Wants vs. Needs
Hi peeps…
So this past week has been a pretty tough one. We found out that our insurance is being changed. Then we found out that our insurance is doubling. Health insurance. Just when we thought that we had figured out how to handle having me on Shane’s insurance plan, it changed. This would be ok, because so far, we are both healthy individuals and most carriers would take us. The only problem is that this change just brings forth another headache. Now we have to re-budget (I know… not a word)… and start saving. Part of the things that this new insurance has is a very high deductible which means that if either one of us needs to go into the hospital for any reason we will get charged as much as our first-born’s college education. Needless to say we are anxious and praying for a solution to this obstacle on the road… especially since we WANT to have children within the next few years. For now all we can think of is to put every little penny aside… So we are still trying to figure THAT out… but all of this got me thinking…
What things can I get rid off? What are needs in my life and what are wants. Then I thought about cutting back on our dining, but we HAVE been doing that since the beginning of the year. We don’t go clubbing (I’ve always thought that was such a cool word!), we are not drinkers, we don’t have any expensive habits (except that car situation… I sooooo need to write THAT post). So what do we do? Where do we cut back?
Then I went to the mall because when you need to think clearly you need to go to the mall. I walked around, I looked at jewelry, I fell in love with a million things. I didn’t buy a thing. This wasn’t difficult to me as I am pretty good at exercising self-control… but what my little walk down shop heaven gave me was perspective. I don’t need the gorgeous watch. I don’t need the shiny earrings, I don’t need the new case for my phone… Those are wants. They are big stinky wants that don’t do anything but put a hold on our future… and while I KNEW this already… the trip to the mall was what I needed to remind myself that all of those material things are just “pacifiers.”
So today I got a reality check… and I liked it.
Now I WANT my NEEDS. I want(need) to have good health, I want(need) to save money for our future. I want(need) to have a happy home life. Basically I WANT what I already have (except the money for our future; we are working on that!)… and I NEED to continue having these things in my life… They are what keep me Alive. Happy. Safe.
Until next time…

A whole lotta’ LOVE.
Howdy!
It’s been quite a while since I’ve written an actual “word” post. We’ve been super busy living a SUPER life. I have to say no complaints on this side of town. Everyday I thank God more and more for everything that He has given my little family. Today more than EVER.
Valentine’s day started out with a bang. My amazing husband made me heart-shaped pancakes…
and a heart-shaped omelette…
We had a yummy, quiet breakfast alone. We laughed, we joked, we enjoyed our day and we talked about how thankful we were for having each other on this special day.
After breakfast my Super Hubby gave me my presents. As you all know we have been saving money this year, and we are doing very good… so we kept our presents to a minimum… BUT a girl can ALWAYS receive flowers and balloons RIGHT?
I also got MAJOR bling.
Ok… so maybe my “bling” came on top of a cupcake on a box of 6 for $3.99 but STILL! It’s a ring… and its pretty big…
The rest of the day went by so smoothly. We watched shows on our DVR, I uploaded photos onto our computer, we did some remodeling (maybe more like moving furniture from one room to another but still!) and then we had yummy pizza for dinner… All while admiring all of the Valentine’s Day Fabulosity going on in our household.
The balloons were definetly my favorite part of the day.
Overall the day was amazing. All the hearts, all the love. My favorite day turned out to be fantastic.
But… I must say not EVERYTHING was picture perfect.
That hot mess you see above… was my husband’s omelette. Poor thing was so concentrated in making my day special that his food was a complete disaster.
Thank you hubs for making today unforgettable.
I hope you all had an AMAZING day.
Until next time…

My husband is looking for a recipe to make on valentine’s day…
He’s so amazingly thoughtful.
(the photo shows him in the dark, in our bed searching on his iPhone).

Marriage.
I’m sitting in a car with my husband and another couple. We are married (duh!) and so are they. The interesting thing is how different our marriages are. This is the first road-trip we take with another couple and the things I am finding out about my own marriage is fascinating.
Exhibit 1- the hand-hold. The hubby and I hold hands all the time. No matter who is around… That makes me so comfortable… And proud.
Exhibit 2- the potty breaks. It’s like we are programmed to do it at the same time.
Exhibit 3- eating. We have the art of
eating on the go down to a T. S drives and I feed… My job is more important.
Although all of those things are important- I think mostly they are just cute. The fact that for the last 5 years and three quarters of my life I have shared my moments of happiness and my sadness with this one person makes me extremely proud. It makes me smile to think that I can now look back and say “remember when…” and have actual valid, valuable memories with the individual sitting at the driver seat next to me.
When I was a teenager or even a little girl I use to dream about nights like tonight. With how fast-paced life is, we sometimes tend to forget about our childhood dreams… This happens to me… But with a simple 3-squeeze hand-hold… It all just comes right back into perspective.
I’m one lucky girl.
Until next time…

(3 squeeze hand-hold = I LOVE YOU)

A little piece of haven…
No… I didn’t mis-spell that… Today I realized how lucky I am… I got home to a clean home and a gorgeous husband. I felt the need to contribute to the cleaning feeling so i got a burst of energy and began with my new year’s resolution of de-cluttering my home!
The hubby was an amazing helper. He broke down boxes, shredded paper, and didn’t even complain! After a few gruesome hours of hard work and our recycling bin filled we finished. We ate dinner. We rested. We felt soooo accomplished. Finally our home is so close to how we want it to be.
So I leave you with a little corner of my universe. This is located halfway up the stairs in my house… The hat box is filled with the most amazing wedding memories a girl could wish for. The books are work books, inspirational books and just plain fun stuff. The card is the thank you card I received from my cousin’s wedding… It’s a beautiful card and it reminds me of our gorgeous day almost 3 years ago!
Until next time…

Hanging out is the thing to do…
This is a picture of my hotel “view.” It’s muggy and wet and kinda NICE!
I gotta start by saying its FREEZING in Tampa, FL! You see the hubby is here in Tampa taking a class with the Chriropractor College (that’s not the correct name but you get the point!) and I am his wing-WOman. The good part about this trip is that he gets to learn all sorts of things for his job, and we get some away time from the madness that is our life.
I love coming to Tampa for these school things because I get me time and US time. I am confined to a hotel room for 48 hours so I have to get crafty. You see… Superman drives a stick mustang… and well… I don’t know how to drive stick. Most of the time I just hang out in the hotel room while he is in class. I watch movies, I paint my nails, I read YOUR wonderful blogs, and mostly I wait for the hubby to get out so that we can go on our very special Tampa Date Night! I LOVE tampa date nights… there is something magical about them. I don’t know if its the fact that we are away from everyone and everything or if its the fact that we are in a different city, but we have TONS of FUN!
Today I slept in, then I had a ham and cheese wrap for lunch that we brought from home (this is part of our saving money kick!) and then I began reading all of the blogs that I LOVE! (If you like online reading I suggest you look to your right on the bar next to the writing… there you can subscribe to my blog (please do!) and read some of the fabulous blogs that I like… These ladies (and their gents) are amazing!
OH! The hubby just walked in the door! Two hours early! YAY! Gotta go!
I’ll let you know about our Tampa Date Night later!
Until next time!

My… oh… My!
I CANNOT believe that people are actually reading this humble BLOG! You see this wordpress thingy that I signed up with to write this blog gives me a “stats” report when I log on to write to y’all. Don’t worry it’s NOT a stalking “stats” thingy… it doesn’t tell me WHO you are… and even if it DID… I wouldn’t know HOW to figure it out! There is no greater MOTIVATION than to see than more than 300 people have viewed my page (ok so maybe some of you clicked on it by mistake but I thank YOU anyway)!
Ok so now for my random thoughts of the day. I had such a hectic day at work today that I came home physically and emotionally drained. Ready to “plop” (my favorite thing to do!) on my couch. Fortunately there was a turn of events that took me to my god-kids house for the afternoon. I must say that there is NOTHING like two toddlers to make a horrible day turn into strict fabulosity. My little man went potty on his own and the little lady wore sassy boots like a supermodel. They organized their parents closet (or made more of a mess!), they made a mountain of food (consisting of chicken nuggets and french fries!), we played hide-and-go-seek and they did ring around that thing I don’t remember full of posies… After much laughter I forgot about research and reports and thought about how lucky I am to have all of these wonderful people in my life.
(that’s my fabulous god-daughter… In her summer shoes!)
On another note… guess what? I just saw on the news that Florida Flurries are POSSIBLE. It hasn’t snowed in FL since I don’t know WHEN!!! I know! I know! Flurries are NOT snow… but you can let a girl dream RIGHT? It’s still SUPER duper cold and I LOVE IT (like how I added that SUPER in there don’t ya’? Clever… I know!) . You know who else loves it? Mr. Superman himself. This boy is CRAZY. He has been leaving the house in his regular work uniform (yeah the tights and cape… HA HA… I WISH!) without a SNOW JACKET (ok so maybe I’m the one that exaggerates BUT STILL!).
SPEAKING of Superman… I’m so looking forward to this weekend! You see the hubster goes to school in Tampa, FL once every other month… and I usually use that time to write papers for school or study… well guess what?! NO MORE OF THAT! I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself… S is in class from 8-5 all day Saturday and Sunday… Heck! Maybe I’ll go wild… I see a SUPER (HA!) fun weekend filled with blogging, tv-watching, magazine-reading and nothing-doing in my near future. Please contain yourself… I know it’s difficult to hear about my wild and crazy ways… I don’t need an intervention just yet… my partying is still under control!
Ok… that’s enough rambling for one night!
Until next time…
Your friendly neighborhood SuperWife!
