The Reason for my Absence…

So as you know I had not blogged for quite a while. Apart from some medical stuff that has been going on (which I am still not ready to discuss… not even with real-life friends) we have been living the GOOD LIFE. We have been enjoying each other’s company, we have been enjoying our families, we have been enjoying life.

Part of our festivities have included visits to the park with the two cutest toddlers in the world, birthday celebrations, vacation planning and couch potato-ing. We (Shane and I) have taken this time to focus on ourselves and what WE need. It has been amazing to shift our perspectives. Not that we weren’t happy or in love before but we were “busy” with life. It got to the point where he would come home from a horrible day at work and I would be cranky from a busy day and we would sit like zombies in front of the tv. Although this wasnt all that bad, it did take a toll in our relationship… I am sure the contestants at American Idol were thankful because we did a lot of voting. ;-)   Now we make sure we always “catch up” about our days BEFORE we start voting!

So now that I am back at this whole blogging thing (and hopefully in full force!) I plan to show you guys all the horrible, fun, embarrassing and exciting(!) things that my hubby and I are doing.

Cake in the shape of a Super Happy!

The hubby and I spent the day hanging out, relaxing and loving our wonderful life! We had a get-together with our wonderful friends j & b and we decided to bake them a cake in appreciation for their invite! So because I LOVE valentine’s day, we decided to make a heart-shaped cake; a “super happy cake”.
Let me explain… My god-daughter watches a show that calls hearts “super happys” so everytime she sees me she asks me to draw her a super happy. Now every time I see a heart I get super happy and have a silly smile on my face!

Goodbye Molten Cake…

This my friends is a Molten Cake from a certain chain of restaurants that has sooooo much of The Supers’ money. Tonight Superman and I said goodbye to this wonderful cake. You see part of our welcoming this new year is to save money and get healthy. Those two things are part of a bigger resolution that we would like to accomplish that may or may not include changing our lives forever. So having said that we had a gift card to this specific money-taking restaurant and decided that today was the perfect day to use it. After all this weekend was all about extreme debauchery. Today, for example, we woke up at 3 o’clock in the afternoon (GASP!) and did absolutely nothing around the house. We hung out, watched certain Disney channel programs that may or may not be embarrassing to admit to having watched, then we went to have the yummy molten cake. Prior to that we indulged in chicken wings, fajitas and french fries, we wanted to leave our party life with a bang, of course!
After our wild and crazy dinner we went grocery shipping. We stocked up our cabinets with low sodium soups, wheat breads, high fiber stuff, and veggies ( I think Im going to die of hunger in this house, I don’t LIKE any of the above mentioned things!).
So now we are brand new people. Superman took his vitamins (he’s a reformed man I tell you) and I drank this…
Ok so maybe its just water with lemons in it… but its a BIG departure from a certain diet bubbly drink that I love OH SO MUCH.
Wish us luck… or make fun of us… whatever you want but we are sure going to try to do this and putting this in writing gives us a certain accountability.
YAY US! I feel more powerful already!
