I didn’t fall off the face of the earth! In fact I have been blogging… just somewhere else! Some of you have already found me (Thank you for continuing to read!). It saddens me to have to let go of this blog for now. Unfortunately, it became too public. I have it linked to several social networking sites and too many people were reading. I know you are asking yourself… “well isn’t that what a blogger wants, more readers?” and while I say… yes… that IS what a blogger wants… it got to the point where people that made me uncomfortable were stalking the blog and creating unnecessary drama.

Another reason for the lack of posting is because this blog is linked to social networks were I have coworkers, professors and important members of my professional network. I feel that it is important for me to maintain anonymity for the sake of my future. I don’t want to whine about having a rough day and have it be taken out of context.

I will not delete this blog because I think some day I will have great news to share with the wonderful people that have read in the past year but for now I have to take a leave of absence. I have to be more private for my family and keep what we are going through under wraps.

After a few days I will make this blog private in order to tuck into my heart until I am ready to open it up again. If you are interested in following my very anonymous blog where I talk about my wonderful family and our everyday lives please send me an email or leave a comment on here and I will be more than glad to give you that new address.

It was jam-packed with amazing activities.

Friday night we went to the food truck food court. Please tell me you’ve heard about the food truck revolution! (Have I blogged about this yet?). Well let me tell you about it anyway! The food truck revolution is this new movement here in South Florida where a bunch of gourmet food trucks get together and park somewhere around the city and cook delicious food. The food is affordable and the experience is “different” and cool! This last food court experience wasn’t THAT great because the lines were extra long and we just didn’t have a chance to slow down and actually enjoy it. What was supposed to be an evening with friends turned into a whole night of “waiting in line.” The final outcome was pretty cool though and the food was delicious (as usual).

Saturday was unexpectedly great as well. We had plans to go to the circus but those fell through as a certain someone who will remain un-named (cough cough husband) conveniently forgot to order tickets. So we sat around and hung out until my bestie called us to come over. We had a wonderful time playing Kinect while connecting with one another. Unexpected get-togethers are the BEST!

Then on Sunday we went to a winery! I don’t drink so I was actually hesitant about the amount of fun that I would have. It’s like going to a shoe store and not trying on any shoes… but sure enough it was one of the coolest experiences of my life!

Our friend Barbie graciously hosted a Sunday brunch prior to going to the winery. It was amaaaaaazinggggg!!!!!! So once our tummies were filled we hopped in our cars and headed down to the winery. When we got there they gave us the choice to take a tour and have a wine tasting. I bought a slice of cheesecake and took that sucker “on tour” with me. The tour was fun, we got a little bit of history of the place  and after we did that we went to our tasting!

Here’s the cool part! While they were setting up I went to the potty (I’m getting somewhere I promise… stay with me!). Well the tour guide asked the hubby how many people were in our party… he said six (which meant that I was included) and they handed our group six glasses! The cool part is that we did not PAY for me because I don’t ever drink so technically we were a party of five… WE GOT A FREE WINE TASTING FOR ME!!!

So when you get a free wine tasting you can’t just say no. At least I couldn’t. I was determined to give wine a try. (This coming from someone who TRULY hates the taste of alcohol). Let me tell you that we tried 11 wines… and I FELL IN LOVE WITH THREE OF THEM!!! Isn’t that COOL???

Overall the place was pretty amazing. The grounds have waterfalls and koi fish and it’s all super relaxing. The company we were in was pretty fabulous too which made the experience one I will never forget.

I gotta say… I’m so thankful for all the amazing people in my life… They rock my world… Especially after 11 glasses of wine!

So today my wish to you is a year filled with faith and hope because being 1st usually gives you hope. Like when you are 1st in line for a sale (I know… I know… I haven’t shopped in 11 days… cut me some slack!). Anyway back to my wish for you… I have faith that this is going to be a great year for YOU and ME.

Ok I’m off to watch that facenetworking movie. We never saw it at the theater and I have high expectations!

Last night the funniest thing happened. We were getting ready to go to sleep when the unthinkable happened… my husband got seriously injured!!! LOL I can laugh now… he is OK!

I wish I could tell you HOW it happened but really I don’t know WHAT happened!!! I was applying my usual night moisturizing creams (I’m a girl OK?!) and then I hear… THUMP. Next thing I know Shane is blindsided by his iPad. He tries to shake it off but I panic as there is blood gushing down his face.

I tried to clean it with a clean cloth but it continued gushing. Poor thing. Yet somehow, someway he was calm. Easy like Sunday Morning. We applied pressure and bandaged his nose and went to bed.

This morning it was not pretty. So we covered it again to go to work.

Throughout the day I secretly wished Shane had made up a super cool story for his battle wound. Oh the opportunities! But he did not. Silly gentle giant.

Here he is tonight. Poor thing.

So here we are…

Hiding from the iPad… Shane’s theory is that the iPad has it out for him… because just yesterday we had talked about selling it and putting the money into savings.

I guess… that’s one way we will NOT be saving money…

I am so excited!!!

Wishing you health, love and happiness in this new 2011! As you saw the holidays kept me busy and pretty much kept me away from the computer. I have been away for so long that I feel like I am a brand-new blogger! I am having such a great time catching up with all the wonderful blogs. To my blog role-models Nain, Ash, Nikki, Katie and all the other wonderful people on my blog roll one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to blog more, so I hope you make me accountable for that!

Woah! I’m a little rusty in the writing department. In fact, I’ve done absolutely NOTHING all day and even though I have all these ideas in my head to jot down I just can’t seem to focus… so in order to smooth my way back into the blog world I am going to do what I {think} I do best… CREATE A LIST.

Below you will see a list of my resolutions… (it’s still a work in progress… but here goes what I have so far!).

1. Save Money – This is one is a funny one because obviously everyone always wants to save money. In fact I am sure this has been a recurrent theme in my blog for the whole year I have been writing. This time it’s different. The Hubby and I have set strict guidelines, a budget and allowances. We have even broken down our savings (which isn’t much right now) into different categories! So far we are doing well paying off (the little bit of) debt that we had. Soon we will be in full-force saving mode!

2.  Shop Less- If you read my last post you can see that I have a bit of a problem. I’m a therapist. I know that the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. So I can say I have a shopping problem! I’m not proud of it and it’s not like I shop our mortgage away… but either way… I’m done. I have a bigger and better goal in mind.

3. Blog More- the blogging community is such an amazing community and I love being part of it! I feel so blessed to have found such amazing people with whom I can share my life with. The last few months when I haven’t blogged I have felt so left out. I am ready to be part of this amazing family again! This will now be totally possible considering the hubby and I will be doing a whole lot of staying home (which is a plus for me = more time to write!).

4. Worry Less- Let’s face it. You don’t even have to go back through all my previous posts to realize that I am a worrier (read one of them and you’ll see!!!) I can’t hide it. It’s such a HORRIBLE habit! I am NOT proud of it. In fact, I hate it. So in 2011 I have resoluted to worry less (I know resoluted… is not a word!!! ps. If you are new to the blog… I like to make up my own words!). So here’s hoping to a worry-less 2011. My motto for this year will be Let Go and Let God.

5. Love More- Those of you who know me personally KNOW that I adore my people. In fact, I love ALL people. I am a sucker for Love. Sometimes a little too much, but what the heck Love makes the world go ’round. I plan to suffocate my people in LOVE. I plan to live and breathe Love.

6. Stress Less- This one goes with the “worry less” resolution! I have a new job and I’m  still learning. I have to remember to not get stressed!

7. Stay Healthy- work out more, eat less, sleep more… you know the good stuff!

So that’s what I have so far… I will add more when I think of it. If you are still out there and if you still read this humble blog… let me know what your resolutions are! Please?

I WANT TO KEEP SHOPPING!

That’s the problem. Yes I got a lot of stuff. Stuff that will last me for years to come. Stuff that is fashionable and trendy yet classic and elegant. Items that I can wear to work and mix them up and wear for drinks (diet coke preferably!). So if I am “all set” with every item I possibly could ever need, then WHY do I have this urge to go shopping?

Retail therapy. That concept has never appealed to me until now. Don’t get me wrong I have subscriptions to every fashion magazine out there, but I never really considered myself fashionable. I was always your basic, simple  girl! Ha! Not anymore! This little amazing thing called retail therapy I have discovered has gotten me more compliments than highlights ever have! I’ve noticed it’s not how you look (in terms of weight, skin color, hair color) but HOW you present the package!

So… even though I am not rushing to the store to buy new duds, I am rushing to my closet every time I get the urge to release my tension. Looking at my new beautiful possessions definitely puts a smile on my face!

I realize that this post sounds a little bit materialistic… but you have to understand that I have NEVER felt the satisfaction of having someone compliment me on my choice of clothing. I have always flown under the radar… well… not anymore! Yay!

After all how can you NOT  fall in love with THIS beautiful skirt?

Apart from being the AWESOME month I was born in, October is pretty jam-packed by awesome awareness causes. There’s Breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness and Coming out Day. Even though almost every other month has pretty cool awareness causes as well I hold a dear place in my heart for this special PINK month. Breast cancer awareness is very important to me. I once found a lump on one of my breasts and thought I had BC for days. It was the scariest few days of my life. I was uninformed and younger. It turned out to be a cyst, but I have never been the same. I am an advocate for the cause. I buy everything related to it. (Yup… it’s PINK overload around my little corner of the world!).

I was really dragging having to take time out of my busy paperwork-filled day to run a group and cover for someone who did not go to work… but what I expected to be a “blah” day turned out to be an amazing experience.

I am so thankful for days like that!

Apart from being a flake when it comes to blogging (see I can call myself out on it!) I have to say that I have been VERY busy. Some of that busy time can be attributed to the dreaded turning 26 crap I’ve had to deal with the last couple of weeks. You see, last year I was ALL EXCITED about turning 25. It was the quarter of the century birthday. I was lucky enough to have great family and friends who walked me through 25 and made me feel sooooo special. I actually and honestly LOVED turning 25. 2009 was a great year.

Then 2010 happened. Yikes what a year. This was supposed to be the year where I got my $h!+ together! Yet it has been one of those years where you sit back and think… “did this really happen?” Being 25 was a blessing but it came with a lot of realizations. It came with growing up. It came with financial strains, it came with a bunch of different “situations.” I am thankful for 25… but Oh boy am I glad that 26 finally made it around the corner and caught up with me!

26 better be better or else! 26 better bring forth less drama than 25 did. So far… it hasn’t been too bad… but then again we are only 96 hours into 26. This new milestone in my 20s feels like an important one. I am no longer in my EARLY 20s (GASP!). In fact I’m on my way to 30! In four short years I will be 30 years old. 26 comes with a sense of adulthood. It comes with a warning on the label. That warning reads “you better not mess up this thing we call life… you’re a big girl now.”

26 also comes with a lot of hope. I hope I can make this year better than last. I will make wiser decisions throughout the next 361 days. I will stand up for myself more. I will take better care of my health. I will think before I act and I will figure some of this hot mess out. Or at least I will try to.

Here’s hoping…

First and foremost… let me clarify! I’m a huge Finding Nemo fan (INSTANT classic!) so every time I go on a boat I refer to it as “butt.” I’m strange I know. Deal with it. It’s one of my “quirks.” I had a practice professor during graduate school that use to say “everyone has a quirk, it’s when that quirk gets in the way of functioning that you should seek help.” Ah I digress. 

I guess digressing is one of my other quirks. Wait. What was I talking about? (Takes a moment to read back…) Oh yeah! Butts. Nemo. So I love Finding Nemo and (as of today) I love boats (last time I’ll be calling it that). Our friends Ali & Omar (cool peeps!) invited about 15 of us to go out on their boat this weekend (I can’t take credit for this friendship my parents “wooed” them many years ago… I can take credit for the appreciation and love I have developed for them, they are like family).

So we went to Elliot Key in the South of Florida waters (Bad Geographer here… wish I could give you more details… BAD DIRECTION GIVER TOO). I gotta tell you I was a bit nervous coming onto this whole “butt” situation. Truthfully I have only been in three other “butts” in the past (two cruises and my cousin’s much larger “butt”… lol. That sounded funny!) 

This little guy (the “butt”) was smaller than my past experiences. Let me tell you something… small = BUMPY in the high seas!!! So our friend (Omar the captain!) says “all the children please sit on the floor of the boat. Adults can sit on the edge.” I gotta say… I’M SOOOOO GLAD I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF AN ADULT OR I WOULD HAVE FLOWN OFF THAT BOAT SOOOOOOO FAST! (Yes, I’m yelling for dramatic effect!).

Long story short we first arrived to this little key (it has a name… I can’t remember it… but if you -the reader- are ever interested in visiting it I can do the research). This place was GORGEOUS. We were sooooooo excited to take pictures and explore… so we dock (look at me using fancy “butt” terms!) and get onto the key… ONLY TO BE EATEN ALIVE BY MOSQUITOES. Seriously I lost count of how many bites I have on my body! Needless to say we left that beautiful key VERY quickly.

After having the scenic tour Omar took us down to Elliott Key. And then I fell in love. It’s a whole different world! Seriously… think of the wedding scene of The Little Mermaid (tell me you’ve watched that… if you haven’t we MUST!). We got there and we anchored (I know… I know… you are SO proud of me for all these terms!). The fun thing about Elliott Key is that you really can’t explore the key (or at least I don’t think you can). It just serves as a reference point, a location… but the waters that surround it are all very shallow… which allows for a very natural beach. WHAT an experience!

We arrived at about 10ish am. By the time we left there were about 500 “butts” filled with families, young and young at heart people, frat (CUTE) boys, and model (pretty) girls. There were babies and even doggies! Everyone was courteous and super excited to be in touch with nature. People were playing volleyball, they were floating, they were flying kites, listening to music and enjoying each OTHER (in some areas the water only reached our ankles!). CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT? Why have I not done this every weekend of my life? We even barbecued IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN!!! (Did you know they sell little grills that you can attach to your “butt”?).

Overall today was an AMAZING DAY. Spending time with my loved ones while making new friends is my idea of a perfect day. Today was a perfect day!

(I LOVED OUR LITTLE FAMILY… AND I LOVED OUR LITTLE TENT!)

Only one problem… I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET MYSELF A “BUTT”… so I can do this every weekend!!!
